Tramway
Tramway was the Owens Valley terminus of the short-lived Saline Valley aerial tram, an attempt to bring some of the purest salt in the world to market. Thanks to the Eastern Sierra Museum photos of this engineering marvel have been preserved.

The incredible ZigZag Trail leading to the highpoint of the aerial tramway. Not quite as easy as taking the freeway to work. Nor did they have modern vehicles.
Once again, all photos courtesy of the Eastern California Museum, which has a full history.
